WhatsApp may soon let you block chat screenshots

WhatsApp's platform is evolving at a rapid rate. Every day we get to hear about a new feature that is likely to make it to the app in the coming days. We already know that the Facebook-owned social messaging app is actively working on introducing the dark mode on to its Android app. We also know that the company us working on updating its audio picker tool and its picture-in-picture mode. And now the word is that WhatsApp is working on a new feature that would allow users to block chat screenshots.
Last month WABetaInfo reported that WhatsApp is working on an authentication feature for Android that would allow users to natively lock the app using their smartphone's fingerprint sensor. Now, a fresh report by the blog suggests that the company is planning to add a functionality to the feature that would block users from taking screenshots in the chats when the feature is enabled.
To put it simply, if you have enabled the authentication feature on your smartphone, you will no longer be able to take screenshots of your chats. However, same isn't true for the receiver, which means that they would still be able to save screenshots of your conversation.
The good news is that even if users have enabled the authentication feature on their smartphones, they would be able to respond to messages from the notifications and answer calls on WhatsApp when the app is locked. This feature, however, is still under development and hence is not available on WhatsApp's Beta app for Android.
Notably, apart from the updates to the authentication feature, the social messaging app is also working on improving the user interface of its Doodles feature. The updated feature now has two separate tabs for stickers, which includes third-party stickers, and emojis. Additionally, the stickers are divided into two groups - favourites and category, and with the latest update, users will be able to use these stickers on images, videos and GIFs.
Apart from this, WhatsApp has also added a search feature to its sticker and emoji search, that would essentially allow users to quickly search for the sticker or emoji that they were looking for without having to go through all the emojis all at once. Notably, this feature is already available on WhatsApp's iOS app and it was first spotted in its Android app last month.
